My mother’s picture smiles at me
Whilst perched upon the wall.
Her portrait’s features pleasant are
Mine eyes absorb them all.

My mother’s picture beckons me
To hasten to her side:
That tranquil gaze holds memories
Where all my secrets hide.

My mother’s picture comforts me
It must- she’s far away;
Affords her essence to my life
And lends her precious sway.
