Eva McLelland Poems

'Tis a blessing to be bonded as a child,
With little feathered beings of the wild.
A blessing that accrues,
And to then lose,
...

Lay not aside my humble wordage,
Lest lost be knowledge of my bondage.
Wake me not, that dreams I've lost--
Oh, them, preserve, at any cost! Buried are thoughts from eons ago,
...

Wonderful are the wonders
Of this mystic, wonderful world.
For me, as I wander,
Endless beauty is unfurled.

On Wings Of An Eagle

'Tis a blessing to be bonded as a child,
With little feathered beings of the wild.
A blessing that accrues,
And to then lose,
Is too much to be borne
By weakest humanity, so forlorn.
Albeit there are challenges of strife,
'Tis stewardship to be honored through life.
To be able to converse with a bird
Is better to have felt than heard.
To soar on the wings of an eagle,
Out yonder, unfettered by space,
Is the sweetest imagination to be given
By God, in all His Grace!
As one not of this world,
With all of earth's fetters unfurled,
'Tis better to be windward bound
Than to be shackled to the ground.
