Has anyone ever heard a poem about a scarecrow? It went something like

A scarecrow stood on the kings highway, knowing not night knowing not day
for having not, did nothing need and never a word said he

    Not quite, but mine goes like this: -

    A scarecrow stood in a field one day,
    Stuffed with straw, stuffed with hay,
    And he watched the folks on the kings highway
    As they went riding by...

    There must be a common origin - by 'Anon'?
