    Tethered by Letters' Fall Poetry Contest

    Deadline: 15th July,2014.
    Prize: $100 and publication in the quarterly journal
    Entry Fee: $5 per entry OR $12 for three entries
    We are currently accepting poetry submissions of all genres and styles-from traditional form to free verse. Length requirements are no more than three pages per poem, single spaced with double spacing between stanzas. The poetry contest winner will be published as the featured poem in the Fall 2014 Quarterly Journal. Three finalists will be considered for subsequent quarterly journal publications or a TBL monthly poetry feature. Each finalist will also receive free professional edits on their submission. International submissions welcome.

    Ledbury Poetry Festival Poetry Competition 2014

    Closing date: 10th July,2014
    Prizes: Adults: First Prize: £1000 and a week at Ty Newydd; Second Prize £500; Third Prize £250. See website for details of Young People and Children's competition section. Winners have the opportunity to read their poems at the 2015 Ledbury Poetry Festival.
    Entry fee: first poem £5, for each subsequent poem £3. Children and Young People enter their first poem free.

    Poets Meet Painters 2014

    Closing date: 1st July 2014.
    Prizes: One cash prize of €250, for any poem in the competition. All shortlisted poems will be featured at a reading at Mill Cove Gallery on 4 August 2013; all winning and commended poems will be published in a printed anthology and/or on the Hungry Hill Writing website.
    Entry fee: €8 per entry is payable via Paypal on website.
    Theme: Poems must be about, or inspired by, any work or works of art (a) exhibited at Mill Cove Gallery and Sculpture Garden or Mill Cove Gallery Kenmare, or (b) displayed on the website www.millcovegallery.com
    Each poem must not exceed 40 lines, and should be typed single-spaced. Please identify the work of art to which each poem relates. Up to three poems may be submitted per entry. You may submit as many entries as you wish.

    2014 Wasafiri New Writing Prize

    The prize is open to anyone worldwide who has not published a complete book.
    Three categories: Poetry, Fiction and Life Writing.
    Fees: £6 for one category, £10 for two categories and £15 for three categories.
    To enter, simply fill in the entry form and send it to us with your entry and fee in UK Sterling.
    The closing date is 5pm GMT on 25 July 2014.
    A maximum of 5 poems can be entered and the word limit for Fiction and Life Writing is 3000. Other terms and conditions apply.
    £300 will be awarded to the winner in each category and their work will be published in Wasafiri.

    The Dermot Healy Poetry Competition

    The contest has just been launched by the Five Glens Arts Festival, and which might be of interest to you and your fellow writers.
    The competition is now open for submissions, and will run until 15th July 2014. The prize money is 1,000 euro, and shortlisted entrants will be invited to read their work at the festival. Dermot will be judging the shortlisted poems and will present the prize to the winning poet. A great honour indeed.
    The ceremony will take place over the course of the festival which runs from 22nd – 24th August.

    Ledbury Poetry Festival Poetry Competition 2014

    First Prize: £1000 and a residential writing course at Ty Newydd

    Ledbury Poetry Festival Poetry Competition is now open with a great first prize of £1000 cash and a residential course at Ty Newydd, The National Writers’ Centre for Wales. Ty Newydd is renowned for its excellent writing courses, taught by outstanding poets, in a beautiful setting.
    We are delighted that Ian McMillan has agreed to judge all entries: Ian McMillan is well-known to Radio 3 audiences as presenter of The Verb. He is also poet-in-residence for English National Opera, The Academy of Urbanism and Barnsley FC. He will be appearing at Ledbury this summer (4 – 13 July) .
