    Nightboat Books Poetry Prize

    Closing Date: 15 November 2014
    Prizes: $1,000, royalty contract,25 copies

    Book manuscript: Any poet writing in English is eligible who: 1. does not have a close personal or professional relationship to the judge; 2. is not a current or recent (within the past two years) student of the judge; and 3. is not affiliated with Nightboat Books. Previous book publication is not a consideration for eligibility. Poems published in print or on-line periodicals, anthologies, or chapbooks may be included, but the manuscript itself must be unpublished. Original work only; translations are ineligible.48 to 70 pages (suggested length) , single-spaced, paginated, no more than one poem per page, one side of the page only. The manuscript must be typed (clear photocopies are acceptable) and bound only by a spring clip. Include two title pages (one with book title, name, address, telephone and email; one with book title only) , table of contents, and acknowledgments page. The author's name should not appear anywhere in the manuscript except on the first title page. Enclose a standard business-size SASE for winner notification. We will not return manuscripts. Please do not send your only copy. Send a self-addressed, stamped postcard for notification of manuscript receipt (optional) . Nightboat Books cannot answer questions regarding submissions during the reading period. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. Please notify Nightboat Books immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere. Submission of more than one manuscript is acceptable. Each manuscript must be submitted separately, each with a separate entry fee and SASE. International submissions only may be sent via FedEx, DHL, or UPS. (Please remember to include your email address and entry fee payable in US dollars.) The winner will have the opportunity to revise the manuscript before publication. No revisions will be considered during the reading period. A $25 entry fee in the form of a check or money order payable to Nightboat Books must accompany all submissions. In the event that the judge does not find an entry suitable for publication, reading fees will be returned to all entrants. Entrants to this year’s competition may receive a complimentary copy of the winning book. Please enclose a 9x12 self-addressed, stamped envelope with $3.00 in postage if you would like to receive the book. Winning collection to be published Spring. Fed Ex, UPS, or other overnight mail services are not necessary. Online entry at website.

    The Milton Kessler Memorial Prize for Poetry

    Closing date: 15 November 2014
    Prizes: $500 and publication
    Fee: $15 to Harpur Palate

    Poems: Previously unpublished poems in any style, form, or genre. The $15 entry fee includes a one-year subscription to Harpur Palate. No more than five poems per entry. Please send checks drawn on a U.S. bank or money orders made out to Harpur Palate. All poems entered will be considered for publication, and all entrants will receive a copy of the issue in which the winning poem appears. Please include a cover letter with your name, address, phone number, e-mail address and poem titles. Entrant's name should only appear on the cover letter and should not appear anywhere on the manuscript. Manuscripts cannot be returned. Prefers online entry on website.

    The Charles Causley Poetry Competition 2014

    The Charles Causley Trust exists to promote the work of the late poet Charles Causley
    1. The Charles Causley Poetry Prize is open to anyone, including non-UK applicants, aged 18 and over by the closing date of the competition.
    2. Entries must be in English.
    3. The closing date of the competition is 12 noon (UK time) ,6th November 2014.
    4. First prize is £2000.
    Runners up awards: 2nd: £250 3rd: £100
    There will also be 5 Highly Commended Awards of £30 each.
    5. There is no limit on the number of entries a single entrant can make, but additional entries incur further entry fees.
    6. Entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form and payment to be accepted. All entries will be considered anonymously by the judges. One entry form may cover multiple entries.
