The Pinch Literary Awards
Deadline: 15 March,2012
The Pinch is a national literary journal that publishes fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction and art. Now accepting submissions!
Only unpublished work will be considered. An “entry” in the poetry contest is three poems. Please include $10 for each group of three after the initial entry. Poems need not be related. A cover sheet that includes the author’s name, address, phone number, and email address. The author’s name or personal information should NOT appear on the manuscript. Entries that do not adhere to this policy will be discarded unread.
No translations will be considered. Current students and faculty of The University of Memphis, as well as volunteer staff members for The Pinch, are not eligible. Online entry available. All entries are considered for publication. Due to the high volumes of submissions, any prize winners will be ineligible for contest participation for three years. Manuscripts will NOT be returned. Winners will be notified in June and announced in mid-September. Enter via submishmash or mail.

Awel Aman Tawe Poetry Competition on ‘Climate Change’
for adults and children

Awel Aman Tawe is a community energy charity committed to tackling climate change.
The competition is for poems up to 40 lines on theme of Climate Change. Judges are Carol Ann Duffy for English entries and Elin ap Hywel for Welsh entries.
Prizes: Adults: 1st £500; 2nd £100; 3rd £50. Children: 1st £50; 2nd £30; 3rd £20.

Call for Submissions: Women's Studies Quarterly - Fashion Issue
Women's Studies Quarterly (WSQ) a publication of The Feminist Press at the City University of NY, is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal published in June and December. Along with scholarship from multiple disciplines, it showcases fiction and creative nonfiction, poetry, book reviews, and the visual arts.
WSQ is seeking submissions of unpublished poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, artwork, and scholarly articles. The theme of this issue is fashion and its intersection with political, economic, cultural, and feminist issues.

Ploughshares Emerging Writer's Contest
Deadline: April 2,2012
Forty-year-old literary journal Ploughshares began accepting entries for a new writing contest open to unpublished poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The Emerging Writer's Contest will award one thousand dollars and publication to a writer in each genre.
In order to be considered emerging, writers should not have published a book or chapbook in any form (self-published works included) .

Anthologise: A National Poetry Anthology Competition for Secondary Schools
Deadline: 1 March 2012
This competition aims to encourage the wider reading, appreciation and enjoyment of poetry by pupils in schools. Open to all schools in the UK, groups of any size are invited to work together to create an anthology of poetry.
The anthology will be published by Picador, with a foreword by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and Carol Ann Duffy The Poet Laureate.

The Fish Poetry Competition 2012

Fish Publishing has been running a poetry contest since 2006.
Fish Publishing is an independent publishing company based in the West of Ireland. It has been running writing contests since 1994. It is the aim of Fish Publishing to encourage and promote new writers.
2012 Fish Poetry Prize opens for entries Aug 2011. Billy Collins (Poet Laureate USA 2001-2003) will be judging. He will select 10 poems to be published in the 2012 Fish Anthology.
