If you judge him do not judge him harshly or why judge him at all
Since the darkest of memories are his to recall
Many of his comrades around him under gunfire did fall
Their names to be seen on War Memorial wall.

They love each other and their children but they studiously ignore
The poor old one in her mid eighties their near neighbour who lives next door
To her they feel so much superior in their eyes she's an old faded rose
Human beings can be so hypocrtical that's human life one would suppose.

They have so much in common compassion and empathy
And those who do possess them are blessed 'twould seem to me
For these are rare enough gifts in the Human World of today
Where many are poor and homeless and in life have lost their way
...

The thing that I crave for money cannot buy
For with it I know life I would really enjoy
I want to be happy and of all cares free
But when I look in my mirror a sad face I see.
...

Life has it's ups and downs you lose and you win
And is there one amongst us not guilty of sin?
And greed now in every Land and every place
Of the World we inhabit we've made a rat race.

You mostly will find them where there is decay
In wood piles or cracks in timber well hidden away
From predators and from the bright lamp of day
One of a group of Nature's composters and 'twould be fair to say

A thing of such great beauty a lovely thing to see
The purple flowers that in Spring bloom on the magnolia tree
A memory to live on when other memories fade
Only by Mother Nature such beauty can be made
...

Tis said of every individual that they can shape their own destiny
Though others will tell you quite differently and with such thinking would not agree
Who knows what will happen tomorrow who knows what your future will bring
Though at present you feel a bit ordinary and none other your praises do sing.

A fly stuck in a spider's web gives a buzzing distress call
Too entangled for to fly free and too powerless for to crawl
Unto a safer surface for it no get away
The sleeky black house spider rushes forth and grabs it's prey.

You may as well be happy and laugh your cares away
For tears won't get you anywhere as some are known to say
Few wish to hear your stories if they seem a bit sad
They say we have our own problems the good goes with the bad.
