Mikhail Lermontov 'The Cup Of Life'

We drink the cup of life, my friend,
Blindfolding our eyes.
And la! The drink has sour taste
Like tears from our cries.

But when just death arrives, my friend,
The blindfold disappears
And everything concealed from us
Becomes unblocked and clear.

And then we see that empty was
The cup with liquid sour...
Inside that cup was just a dream,
Which was not even ours
