Yesterday I saved a life
In the long grass

Today was sad like midnight in the rain
And as lonely as a mountain in a storm
Making my mind loose
like a kite with a broken string

Yellow roses at my front door.
Smiling perfumed faces
Greet me at home
Only for limited days

In my restless dreams
I see the running Bustard
Along a cape York track
Then the dancing Brolgas

"She left me for no one"
He told me over a beer
"Then she died on her own"
This conversation has never left me

The turtles come out
Every evening on dusk
They trust me coming to my feet
They have trouble finding the food
