Time Passes

Time passes and yet I can't get my mind off of you,
the memories play vividly in my head time and time again,
wishing and hoping I can live those moments again.

They say time heals but that's a lie.
Not a day goes by when I don't ask,
Why?

The rules of love say 'leave him, don't contact him'
But the truth is;
I don't care.
I don't care about being strong.
I don't care about sounding desperate and being wrong.

My heart beats silently;
quietly.
Experiencing life so absently.

While I don't expect the take back of your words or a quick come back to heal this broken heart,
I will settle with the memories and works of art,
that you left imprinted on this open heart.

So exposed yet so secure,
never held back
