Freedom Evaporated

I hear my heart beating
As if it was next to my ear
What have I done?
I didn’t mean to
He was defenseless
With one shot, he was done
His body lay’s lifeless
And I was motionless
But it was self-defense I scream
With no witnesses at the scene
My dream of freedom evaporated
As I would get the death penalty
Indeed mistakes were made today
But of who’s fault?
