It’s bad enough to have to sit
Through laughter, wild and raucous,
Without officials coming by
To push and shove and poke us.

Easy did some heavy breathing
Along the hallway where he lurked,
Watching Stang tip-toeing forward,
Toward where the fresh-brewed coffee perked.

Some thought may pass within my mind,
I never can express,
About some things that I can’t find,
And, therefore can’t address.

Destiny sends each their separate way:
Vaporizing in the heat of the sun,
Soaring aloft on the web they have spun,
Condensed by cold to a rarified spray.

I live in my cluttered office
on the seamy side of town.
My heart is so touched with sorrow
when I see what's going down.

It seems that when a person's tagged,
the way I understand,
one has to leave some sort of clue
to show the world his brand.
...

Strange species will walk on the streets of tomorrow;
Perhaps they'll be as uncivil as we:
Bombarding the earth with the seeds of our sorrow;
Leaving behind only piles of debris.

As twilight pulls night's curtain down,
One million stars sleep in your eyes,
And in those darkened depths they drown,
Reflecting back into the skies.

I sit in The Plaza, surrounded by statues:
marble and granite: provocative poses,
hemmed in by the neatly trimmed hedges and bushes:
gardens of flowers commanded by roses.
