The puny mind of man can soar
beyond confining skies;

We cut the budget to the bone
With edicts handed from the throne,
And leave the children all alone,
While we, the children's fate bemoan.

She stood on the sidewalk,
to all whom passed oblivious
to their glances, bumps and talk.
That she was heart-broken was obvious.

Lorelei, Sweet Lorelei,
Your siren’s song has stirred my soul.
My armor’s cracked, My shield is gone.
I’ve glimpsed the part: Now show the whole.

To my mailbox, I made a walk
And got a piece of mail today,
From one with whom I often talk,
Who lives a thousand miles away;
...

When the setting sun meets the western sea,
And the things of day take repose,
And the bees return to their honey hive
And abandon the last sweet rose;
...

We start life’s road, walking hand in hand
Synchronized in step, through time's endless sand
And a stone appears in the road ahead
And we pass it on separate sides.

It was simple for me
when we had to part.
Just gradually cutting
away at my heart.

The sun
melted away in the west.
The evening
produced its first star,

The old house that stands on the top of the hill
In the shade of that sheltering oak,
Is mum with the silence; entombed by the years
That have passed since the chandeliers spoke
