Want

To be with one who knows life; s secret spaces,
with their horrors and sweetness
all held in one happening instant.

To be with one like you you is to know
such hiding places:
caves, occult chambers: sometimes damp,
and often dark.
but compellingly delicious.

With traces of wicked little shallows,
hollows, with rainbow-pools, where our
inquisitive toes, probing with child-like
curiosity, will be found urging loose, tiny
shiny pebbles, which jewels we toss
with only feigned indifference into
waiting-water,
creating ever-widening, shimmering,
never-parting, unbroken circles

Of unsuspected
love.
