Ode To A River
Oh river, so strong, so fast;
You run by without a care.
I listen as you go past,
And wonder if you know I'm there.
The water's cold to my feet
And you seem to know I'm there.
You dance around my cold feet
To say "your burdens I'll share."
I find a great place to sit,
Warmed in the afternoon sun.
How good to relax a bit
And learn from you a lesson.
Why can't I gain strength, be slow,
And let life run on by me?
For then is when strength I show;
Life is the river in me.
