Anymore

Once upon a time
there was a little girl.
She'd been struck and beaten
a thousand times before,
but this was not supposed to
happen anymore...anymore.
Now she lies on the floor,
trying not to cry.
He promised it would be the last time,
that she'd be safe from now on.
Maybe she should have guessed
that he was a liar,
but this was not supposed to
happen anymore...anymore.
Now she lies on the floor,
just one more time.
