Kathleen Myers Poems

When I was little I wanted to be bigger.
When I was a teen I wanted to be an adult.
When I grew older, I wanted to be younger.
When I go to sleep, I want to dream.

Today you are in one place, safe and sound.
Yesterday there were so many places you were around.
Today I hear you speaking of tomorrow,
Sometimes scared of good bye sorrows.

I Didn'T Know

When I was little I wanted to be bigger.
When I was a teen I wanted to be an adult.
When I grew older, I wanted to be younger.
When I go to sleep, I want to dream.

When I look back I should have enjoyed that moment.
When I was young I should have known.
When I was a teen I should have believed.
When I look back, I should look forward.

Now I want to soak up the moment.
Now I want to drown in the memories.
Now I want to see what is in front of me.
Now I see this is it.

Time has passed by, but not by me.
Time has not forgotten I am not done.
Time is the gift that is right in front of me.
Time is on my side if I allow it to be.

Smile because you are here.
Laugh because of the one next to you.
Feel lucky because you are.
And Fight because you can.
