Time O Universe For A New Beginning

As I sit contemplating life
What has it brought me but grief
Dished to me like a bowl of poisoned soup
Multiplied every time I take a sip
And that sip I take with grief
multiplied again with every breath I breathe

O life your shadow has followed me
Cast upon me folds of clouded skies
Fanned and spread your gloom all around me
O Dear Dear life of mine

Hanging in there is not as easy said as done
When my soul is hanging at the stretch of my palm
O Dear Dear life of mine

Stagnant has become the clock of life
My body feels like a road kill
As I age second by second now

Splashed on my hair are streaks of gray
Parallel lines, upside down and arched lines
Cave my gloomy face

In my dreams I chant free Ziyad
In my sleep I chant free Ziyad
When my soul is stuck between
The heavens and Earth
I chant free Ziyad
To the Master of the Universe
Who holds the planets from falling like bowling balls
On the people’s greedy heads

At twilight when every one is sleeping
When souls travel some to heaven and some to hell
I see judges, prosecutors begging the Lord
For another chance
But it is too late to recant
Their evil steps

Now I lie on my bed wide eyed
thinking it is time for a new beginning
It is time for a new beginning

Time O universe to dish me a new beginning
