The moon stole shyly over the hills and peered down on the valley below
Silver beams trembled across a pristine lake as a gentle breeze blew slow
Her reflection riding the ripples till leaves could no longer let in light
While the zephyr sang mournfully through the vale rousing dwellers of the night

Life will be pretty dull if nothing goes astray
What would be the weather if skies were never gray
Some setbacks are needed to spice up boring days
And not take for granted when cheer is holding sway

His home lay under a bridge where the river ran wide
A few pieces of cardboard but no walls to divide
On the day he was born, it was a day filled with grief
For the river had rose and his mother's joy was brief

This wildlife lover was on a trip filming
Along a river too shallow for swimming
Where an old mugger resides
Saw his lunch alongside

A shotgun kicked, a deafening boom and pellets through him tore
A scream of pain, ‘twas all in vain for his heart would beat no more

The tigress licked what remained of her leg; which broke off from a snare

This fisherman went out in a kayak
In spite of warnings that sharks would attack
A huge shadow appeared
A predator most feared

A government in denial,
opposition in disarray.
Such are the political clowns,
that's running around loose to-day.
