I Should Have Listened

I asked for this romantic love
I, so wanted to have
You asked me to wait
For there's much better
In Your Perfect time.

In exchange-
You gave Your eternal,
unconditional love.
With Your sincere,
and understanding heart.
Yet I blew it off
away from my sight.
'cause I wanted that
romantic love right now.

You said, 'No..'
And I weep like a mad child
for this pain You caused me.
For my feelings were trampled
and I stumbled on the ground, yelling.
'You are greedy! stingy! '
I turned my back upon You
carrying a baggage of disappointment
and anger on my back.
And left Your dwelling place.

I gave my heart
to an unfamiliar man.
Oblivious of what he was,
he accepted my heart-
but only to shatter
and tear it apart.

He wooed me though
Only to brag for it.
Like I'm a trophy
he's flashing on people's eyes.

I cried my heart out
for this stupid love.
For his beautiful words
carried me away- made me feel
I'm on cloud nine.

Only to find out
it was false.
For his words were lies.
It was a snare
and I got trapped.

I should have listened to You..
to my Father's advice.
because of my ignorance
and selfish nature,
I put myself in a chasm
of shame and guilt.

Because of my stubbornness,
I caused You pain.

'Sorry..I'm so sorry..' I said,
While tears are streaming down.
I know, I should have waited.
I learned my lesson now.
I know, I should have listened.
I should have listened to You.
