Samer, I love this poem: so evocative... I feel this way about my beloved, rendered even moreso because she really did save me from drowning in our youth, yet all I want to do is to drown in her company and beauty. I write in a similar vein on PoemHunter...if you like, have a look at Engineer's Hand or Walk All Over Me.

Hi Sue, I love this: so tender and peaceful. Believe me - I know the feeling and there being someone just out of reach who fills one's body, soul and spirit. I (Tony Jolley) wrote something similar called Razor's Retreat, about my beloved being some 600 miles the other side of the horizon. Its on PoemHunter. If you like it - try The Engineer's Hand or Walk All Over Me - they have the same sentiment and feel to them. Regards, Tony

  • POEM: The Difference Now by Cherie Burbach (5/24/2004 4:00:00 PM)

Superb, Cherie, I can relate to what you express so well....

Have you ever listened to Jackson Browne's 'The Pretender'? Well that was me in another time. I thought I was the only one! Strange thing...I thought I was pretending for other people (really did) , but the person I was fooling most of all was myself, believing I could pretend it was OK when it was never going to be.

On the other side of this realisation I was done with pretence, was me closing one door and finding myself walking towards the woman with whom there could never be any pretence at all, ever. Have written a lot about that...(plenty more to upload) but if you are interested, have a look at a couple of mine (Tony Jolley) on PoemHunter: Walk all Over Me and The Engineer's Hand. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed The Difference Now.

    Regards and Thanks,

    Tony
