  • POEM: The Loss of Innocence (a rhyming sestina!) by Karl Stuart Kline (10/1/2009 9:26:00 PM)

    Agreed, Paul.

    I wrote this with 14 beats to the line, but since I am not confined to iambs, calling it iambic heptameter would be a misnomer. perhaps it is best read as free verse despite the highly structured form.

    A little gift for you;

    With a loving heart and spirits lifted,
    May you find your Christmas is well gifted

    Merry Christmas, Aishu!

  • POEM: (1.0) A New Introduction (07/18/2008) by Karl Stuart Kline (8/17/2008 3:22:00 AM)

    Thanks, Val!

    Call it the Kline Decimal System, if you want (chuckle!) - computers being as essentially mathematical as they are makes this a very simple way to inser new works or cross reference poems that you want to have multiple referral points.

    Of course, it's the same principle as the Dewey Decimal system, except that I'm finding it to be an applicable tool anytime a computer's programming won't accept anything except a strict alphabetical ordering of its' contents.

    Watch out, lads!

    Follow your 'Corpora Cavernosa' on this one and you're likely to be disappointed!

    I just received the identical message only minutes ago and looked for the source before I gave her any answer - this is where it led me.

    By all means let true love extend past the boundaries of your life - I have a lovely Russian wife and even if the writer (she or he?) had been on the level, she would have been disappointed, but I can vouch for the reality of romance - We just celebrated our 8th anniversary in Paris this past October!

    Heads up!

    I've gotten a personal mail through this site that is typical of those African/Nigerian/Abidjan-Cote d' Ivoire confidence men/women who are looking for nothing more than some easy money! If you get one of those letters, it is not a contest and you are NOT a winner! Just another potential victim! This one said they were from Iran, but they can say that they are from anywhere that will ingratiate them with you! Be Careful!

    Hello, Elle!

    Robert Herrick (1591-1674) wrote 'To Primroses Fill'd with Morning-dew'
    It doesn't necessarily start out like you might be looking for, but the size is right and the last few lines are;

    By your tears shed
    Wo'd have this lecture read
    That things of greatest worth, so of meanest worth,
    Conceiv'd with grief are, and with tears brought forth.

    That speaks directly to a lot of my poetry!
    Good luck, ]^.KARL!
