  • POEM: Come September, Come now. by s./j. goldner (9/9/2007 3:16:00 PM)

I don't like the last line, but the rest is extremely evocative and powerful. Though it's direct, the images are strong and the phrasing is solid. A powerful piece.

  • POEM: An August Evening by Michael DeVries (9/7/2007 3:54:00 PM)

The first stanza enthralled me. i was let down by the latter two. The sun down/sun up metaphor is a cliche that you don't do well enough to break out of here.

The latter two stanzas could more potent metaphors, stronger language, and a more clever overarching metaphor than the sun set/sun rise one.

  • POEM: For Now by Michael DeVries (9/7/2007 3:51:00 PM)

This poem turned in the way i expected, but i felt like it was missing something-the last stanza was not as profound a turning point as I thought it would have been.

I enjoyed this poem though. Your images are clear, your wording is deft. The theme may be a little overdone, but this poem is written well enough to be worth reading.
