It is easy to see how difficult it is to write poetry in English when it is not one's first language. Nevertheless, the imagery and meaning of this Franciscan ode both come through very well. Lovely.

As a 'once and future' teacher, I dream of a universal change in the school year. Year round school with two week breaks every quarter.11 weeks on,2 weeks off. I think most parents could cope with the breaks and take turns doing things with small groups of kiddies. Short 'camps' would work, too. The old agricultural paradigm just doesn't work any more. Best wishes! Christine

I think most of our truly greatest poets are our songwriters!

    Let's see - Joni Mitchell - absolutely

Also - Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon

Lots more - who do you think?

If you look in your old college English Lit anthology, you'll see that the first English poems in it are old ballads! Poetry has been set to music probably as long as there has been poetry and music!

What makes it particularly a poem in my (very humble) opinion, is if the words can stand by themselves without music to carry them.

    Thunder Road! :)

Sweetie, the best reply is a big smile and say 'Thank you! ' :)

Rudest? You have GOT to be kidding!

I think there are some people here who were over-praised during potty training.
They seem to think that any little 'production' they make is absolutely brilliant!
