  • POEM: ~ Monica Leuneske_y Monologues Zigzag Why? ~ by MS. NIVEDITA BAGCHI SPC. UK. (6/11/2013 10:11:00 AM)

I fail to understand why a woman's body parts are not seen as just parts of a complex machine called the human body. Every part has a function to perform. In Delhi, if you happen to step out of your house you feel as if a woman's body was created only for the purpose of satiating the male gaze. As if it was a work of art or something and every man was authorized to critically analyze it. Anyways, I remember the way Leuneske was described by the media in the Bilton case. I also remember the cartoon pictures that appeared in the papers. As if she was the one who had abused power! And its not just her. Whenever, there is a scandal of any sort, men are forgiven and forgotten but the rupture caused to a woman's 'REPUTATION' is fairly permanent. She is humiliated all her life. I also have a problem with this reputation thing. Can go on...

  • POEM: Commonwealth Games,2010 by Supriya Prathapan (12/5/2012 7:57:00 AM)

Yes Shihabudheen, thats the unfortunate truth. I'm sure no one could have felt the pain of such treachery more than the Delhiites. The poem was written before the commencement of the Games. However, it cannot be denied that the kind of development that was happening in Delhi at that time, seemed nothing less than a dream. We must accede that our Government also did a lot of good work at that time.

  • POEM: My Feathered Friend by Shihabudheen K J (12/4/2012 9:26:00 AM)

Brilliant imagery. Fine usage of words. A very touching poem.
