The great white waves of the Pacific how loudly they do roar
And crash against the volcanic rocks that guard the ocean shore
The silver gulls above the beach are calling as they fly
And the terns dive in shallow waters for small sea things from the sky,

He has one wish for the future a small house beside the sea
Where the wild waves of Pacific keep on rumbling ceaselessly
Phillip Island or San Remo, Cape Paterson or Inverloch
Just a small house by the ocean on a quarter acre block.

Of the famed Merri River an old water-way
That in Warrnambool flows into the Pacific at Lady Bay

The river that flows from the hills far away
Through wetlands and dry lands by night and by day
As old as father time will journey forever more
Through the flat coastal lands en route to the sea shore.

Before the first skylark did take to the wing
And in the clouds above his breeding grounds did sing
And before the first flowers bloomed in the warmth of Spring
The rumble of the ocean was a familiar thing

The ocean is timeless and forever more
The big waves will splash on the rocks of the shore
And centuries before the first homo sapiens looked on the lamp of day
The rivers to saltwater have been babbling their way

The blueness of the saltwater the white waves rolling free
In my wild flights of fancy the ocean i can see
The silver gulls and black backed gulls above the white beach cry
And the sun is shining brightly in the clear and sunny sky,

By woodlands and through grasslands and places where rank scrub grow
The river to the ocean forever will flow
On it's sea going journey it receives the waters of drain, creek, brook and rill
The river born as a stream in the lake by the hill

A unique coastal small Town with a charm of it's own
For it's beautiful docking and fishing port it is widely known

In the Southern Grampians by night and by day

In the home of the gray roo, long billed corella and dark pale eyed crow
