When did the teardrops start
Was it on the first day
Did you feel like wasting away

Golden days on white sands
Walking the beach a sea breeze at hand
Sunsets in red yellow and indigo
Always somewhere for us to go
...

For the times when you felt the sadness would never end
And you searched so hard for the shoulder of a friend

For those lonely times apart
...

For my mate

You added your bit to the show
A joke a story or a place to go
...

The darkness slowly seeps through
Silently it fills a void inside of you
It finds you no matter what you do
Draining all the colour from inside too
...

I know a thousand things
I've heard a thousand songs
I've walked a thousand miles
I remember a thousand moments
...

Is there a place where old coppers go
After we hand in our gear in the last show
The fleets been parked and booked off now
Fuelled up for the next shift or day for new know how
...

Our shifts are duly spent
Of police duty known and meant
And inquiries followed through
In the daily things we do
...

What price for country now
Is it what money takes a bow
To attack another is such a deed
Peace the sacrifice for diplomatic speed
