And so the AIF was obliged to send home
Letters written on anything that was found or known

An ordinary one that people do
Some see their time through on nights
With drink drivers, accidents and pub brawl fights

A Port boy by the size of his grin
That went from ear to ear
And we shook hands like old friends dear

I was thinking today
Of things in my mind that stay
Sunny days on my bike
Riding to the beach and back before night

I have beaten down another dusty road
And worked through each interesting episode
Of a year that is now set aside
To remember and its consequences to abide

I want to be like everyone else
To run and laugh with others
I don't want to be different
Seeing others having fun
