Yesterday
Yesterday I heard of a place
A place with no god but prejudice of race
whenever their children turned they saw vicious wound of their burns
they said nothing but it was written all over their faces
yesterday I heard children's cries
as they looked upon the skies
and heard all the lies
with excruciating pain in their eyes
they went through the following nights
yesterday I saw men using guns to occupy this place
we call our space
but do not embrace
Today I saw a place were we stand united as a rainbow nation
and strive for common education
a nation were there is no discrimination
were there are no issues of pronunciation
because we are all gods creation
Yesterday I lived into that dark night
Today I can see the light
because the future is now bright
The past is written dark at the back of our hands
the present is at the tip of our fingers
and the future is on the palm of our hand.
