Peter Gray Poems

locksmiths come
pick locks
fix locks
change locks
...

I rise daily
To see myself
reflected in you
bursting with life
...

Our bodies braid,
And unbraid
As we take each other in
Exploring wrinkles in our hearts
...

A kind hand welcomes mine
And so our hands intertwine
Your dark eyes open to my being.
Speaking softly, your words are heavy
...

You rise to check the time.
A moment of true beauty,
of quiet grace.
I recall as the curves of you,

Old Keys

locksmiths come
pick locks
fix locks
change locks
a simple thing
really

deeper still
they make a home
again
and bring physicality
manifest to new life

that windy
September night
"I did a bad thing"
is not what hurt
it's that you
made me unable
to see life without
you

this is not your home
i am freed of this
my life is my own
but though you left
you did not leave
and are lost

cast aside
your old keys
find your path
the one which
leads away
from me
towards you

— closure | new beginnings
