Quel génie au milieu des sentiers solitaires,
Au sortir du berceau t'a conduit par la main ?

O chantre vigoureux, ô nature choisie !
Quel est l'esprit du Ciel qui t'emporte où tu veux ?
Quel souffle parfumé de sainte poésie
Soulève incessamment l'or de tes blonds cheveux ?

Quel art mystérieux à ton vers prophétique
Mêla tant de tristesse et de sérénité ?
Quel artiste divin, comme au lutteur antique,
Te donna tant de force avec tant de beauté ?
