ab ke tajdiid-e-vafaa kaa nahii.n imkaa.N jaanaa.N
yaad kyaa tujh ko dilaaye.N teraa paimaa.N jaanaa.N

[tajdiid=renewal; imkaa.N=possibility]
[jaanaa.N=dear one/beloved; paimaa.N=promise]

yuu.N hii mausam kii adaa dekh ke yaad aayaa hai
kis qadar jald badal jaate hai.n insaa.N jaanaa.N

zindagii terii ataa thii so tere naam kii hai
ham ne jaise bhii basar kii teraa ehasaa.N jaanaa.N

[ataa=given by; basar=to live; ehasaa.N=favour]

dil ye kahataa hai ki shaayad ho fasurdaa tuu bhii
dil kii kyaa baat kare.n dil to hai naadaa.N jaanaa.N

[fasurdaa=sad/disappointed]

avval-avval kii muhabbat ke nashe yaad to kar
bepiye bhii teraa cheharaa thaa gulistaa.N jaanaa.N

[avval-avval=the very first]

aaKhir aaKhir to ye aalam hai ki ab hosh nahii.n
rag-e-miinaa sulag uThii ki rag-e-jaa.N jaanaa.N

[rag=veins; miinaa=wine-holder; jaa.N=life]

muddato.n se ye aalam na tavaqqo na ummiid
dil pukaare hii chalaa jaataa hai jaanaa.N jaanaa.N

[muddat=awhile; tavaqqo=hope]

ham bhii kyaa saadaa the ham ne bhii samajh rakhaa thaa
Gam-e-dauraa.N se judaa hai Gam-e-jaanaa.N jaanaa.N

[Gam-e-dauraa.N=sorrows of the world]

ab kii kuchh aisii sajii mahafil-e-yaaraa.N jaanaa.N
sar-ba-zaanuu hai ko_ii sar-ba-girebaa.N jaanaa.N

[sar-ba-zaanuu=forehead touching the knees]
[sar-ba-girebaa.N=lost in worries]

har ko_ii apanii hii aavaaz se kaa.Np uThataa hai
har ko_ii apane hii saaye se hiraasaa.N jaanaa.N

[hiraasaa.N=scared of]

jis ko dekho vahii zanjiir-ba-paa lagataa hai
shahar kaa shahar huaa daaKhil-e-zindaa.N jaanaa.N

[zanjiir-ba-paa=feet encased in chains; zindaa.N=prison]

ab teraa zikr bhii shaayad hii Gazal me.n aaye
aur se aur huaa dard kaa unvaa.N jaanaa.N

[unvaa.N=start of chapter/title]

ham ki ruuThii hu_ii rut ko bhii manaa lete the
ham ne dekhaa hii na thaa mausam-e-hijraa.N jaanaa.N

[mausam-e-hijraa.N=season of separation]

hosh aayaa to sabhii Khvaab the rezaa-rezaa
jaise u.Date huye auraaq-e-pareshaa.N jaanaa.N
