Araberen i Schveitz

Døvende Torden!
Buldrende Strømme!
Islagte Bjerge!
Fængslende Mure!
Ak, gid jeg kunde
Vældigen sprænge jer!
Hurtigen svinge mig
Didhen hvor Ørkenen
Grænseløs strækker sig!
Hvor jeg paa Hengstens Ryg
Skummer den gule Sand:
Saavidt mit Øje seer,
Strækker mit Rige sig;
Pantheren rammer min Piil,
Løven stinger mit Spyd;
Skjælvende Udlænding
Krummer sig under mit Sværd.
Funklende Stjerneloft
Hvælver sig over mig;
Sange og Eventyr
Korte min Sommernat.
Ej Flodens vilde Brøl,
Ej Stormens hule Stød,
Ej Tordnens døvende Brag
Forstyrrer mit rolige Blund,
O, Du min gule Ørk!
O, Du mit Fødeland!

poet William Wordsworth

I

I AM not One who much or oft delight
To season my fireside with personal talk.--
Of friends, who live within an easy walk,
Or neighbours, daily, weekly, in my sight:
