Dark Rose


I saw it in a vase
that red rose
standing alone
dripping blood red petals
of passion and fury

For now it is red
a glowing beacon
for the moment
soon it will twist
turn, show the thorns

its true dark side
my midnight rose
a glorious black
wilting and gleaming
in the moonlight

One by one
the bloody petals fall
revealing the darkness
underneath
this glowing beauty

my lone dark rose
the beauty of midnight
lurking under
that conflicting red
which I long to hate

Now you are my
lone midnight rose
gleaming from
the light of
a glowing white moon
