This poem is dedicated in loving memory to my husband who suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
How much sorrow before it is right? Grief that can subside like sand by the seashore When the waves calm down and snore Stars shining brightly, sparkling tears Decades passing through the years Lighthouse guiding through fear Fear of losing memories and mind ...tears and sniffles through the night Until finally, no more sorrow or pain appear

I'm so sorry, Ana, that you have to see your loved one with this
dreadful disease. My brother had it along with cancer last year.
The good thing was, he didn't realize he was in pain from the
cancer. I have an uncle who also has it, my husband's aunt had it.
Keep strong and God Bless you!

I admire your courage...My grandmother has Alzheimer’s and it is really hard for me to even think about the feelings she might pass through inside herself, but you not only faced it graciously but also found relieve. Thank you! My egocentric wish was that she would never forget me so we could always keep our perfect relationship...But, they say nothing lasts forever...And Alzheimer's is a painful learning experience of loosing alive...Fighting against you can't domain...Acceptance again, as you pointed was brilliant. |
