Wow. This is a powerful poem. Perhaps to get the full effect we would have to read it as if we were all black, southern priests, belting it out like a baptist sermon. That's what Langston Hughes's poems are like, though, aren't they? Sermons. But not sermons of religion, sermons of humanity.

Freedom Plow is a significant, prolific poem because it purpose is still relivent for today's times. Many of us are struggling with not only racial injustice on society, we are struggling with the injustice that we place upon ourselves. The greatest injustice any person, black or white can place upon ourselves is to give up hope and faith in our dreams and our god. 'KEEP YOUR HAND ON THE PLOW! HOLD ON!
