Poète, hier, encore, en humant quelques verres
De votre fin muscat de Provence, ― frileux,
Je me pris à rêver aux climats fabuleux,
Où l'on retrouve encor la chanson des trouvères.

Souffles tièdes berçant de frais papillons bleus,
Ciel d'azur, rayons d'or, roses et primevères !…
Désespérant contraste avec les froids sévères
De nos zones qu'attriste un soleil nébuleux !

De vie et de parfums brises exhubérantes !
Aux chansons des oiseaux forêts toujours vibrantes !
Langue au rythme sonore et plein de nonchaloir !

Ces horizons vermeils ! cet hiver chimérique ! ―
Dites, n'est-ce pas là quelque monde féerique
Où pour être poète on n'a qu'à le vouloir ?
