Treasure Island

Louis Honoré Fréchette

(16 November 1839 – 31 May 1908 / Lévis)

À M. et Mme R. D…, à l'occasion de leur mariage.

Voici la saison des pervenches :
Par les ravins et les closeaux,
L'ombre palpite sous les branches,
Les rayons dorment sur les eaux.

Les pommiers sont en robes blanches ;
Pan soupire dans les roseaux ;
C'est l'Été qui prend ses revanches :
Mariez-vous, petits oiseaux !

La vie est belle à son aurore ;
Mais la rose qui vient d'éclore
Peut perdre en un jour sa couleur.

Pour mieux fixer la destinée,
Voici la saison fortunée :
Mariez-vous, jeunesse en fleur !

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When the hours of Day are numbered,
And the voices of the Night
Wake the better soul, that slumbered,
To a holy, calm delight;
