My Uncle is a Soldier

My uncle is a soldier
a soldier of the U.S. Navy Seabees
he helps people day in and day out
to reach their right to be free
My uncle is a soldier
in a poor foreign land
he helps people's villages
with no guns but the strength of his hands
My uncle is a soldier
but much more than that to me
My uncle is a soldier
and a hero to our family

    Your uncle must be a great man. Extend my heartfelt greetings to him for serving the poor and downtrodden in the said poor country. I liked your poem as well as your great feelings for your uncle. Nice poem to read. I give it 9/10. Thanks for sharing..... The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
The cheque was spent that the shearer earned,
and the sheds were all cut out;
