No Magic Wand Poem by L C Vieira

No Magic Wand

A grandmother wishes for a magic wand, but -

The child who knows the Word of Life
is wiser than all those who strive
to search the heavens, earth, and seas
but simply miss The Mystery.

No magic wand to fix all things
to free each child from suffering
no perfect paradise parade
all holding hands, all happy days.

No second chance celebrations
no point to resist temptations
no hungry mouths, no poverty
no war, no starved economy.

No hands for work, no care to give
no need for higher goals to live
No needs. No love. No great compassion
No consequence for one's own actions.

No responsibility, and -
no mustard seed or offered plan
no highest mountains, valleys low
to help the hardest lessons grow.

No need for God, no memory
of His own Hand in History
no free will offering, no will,
no Shepherd walking with us still.

No Christmas, no Revolution
no Easter joy, no soul solution
all things the same while all things last
yet no redemption for the past.

No Eden's curse, no pain, no death
no Comforter, no Spirit breath
no hope, no longing to be blessed
no Cross, no faith, no forgiveness.

No freedom to be saved and free
no glimpses of Eternity
no Law, no Salvation's price
no Mercy Seat, no Jesus Christ.

No Living Water poured to cleanse
our pride in our own common sense
no piercing Word of Truth to slice
until our darkest depths arise.

No magic wand for us to hold
when all things possible unfold
within the Way, the Truth of old
life's mystery revealed and told.

No bigger Grace than what there is
within the dark glass and the Gift
of drinking from the Savior's cup
Who gave it all, and all enough.
