The little child lay in the night, While overhead one star shone bright. At his side, his mother knelt, And shared with Joseph emotion felt. Cool air whisked all through the stable, But the animals warmed Him as they were able. Shepherds hurriedly followed the star, While three wise men came from afar. Upon their journey, they felt great peace, And they praised the Father on this joyous feast. They drew near to the baby and looked at Him; This helpless, little child would save man from his sin. And although the future could not be foretold, They all knew what redemption it would hold.
