The Thinning - Poem by Doug Jones

things that don't really
mean much of anything
dreams that get tangled
between what's left dangled
are all around our lives
stalled out, bound to our highs
what's left is just dust
because we swept up lust
before it consumed us
no more room to trust
so nakedness in new light
makes us thin into night
like a ghost you barely see
I'm a host who scarcely is free
