This Kingdom Will Be Ours

When sadness bites, and sorrow stings,
And life has left me hopeless,
Your love soars in on sunlit wings,
Like heaven’s magnum opus!

The demons dancing in the dark
Will always have their fun,
But they can never snuff our spark
Or see our love undone.

I long for you— I’ll walk throughout
The fallen trees forever,
The chaos of a world without
You and me together.

O, one day you will be my bride,
Your hair adorned with flowers,
And standing naked, side by side,
This kingdom will be ours!

Poem of the Day

poet Edmund Spenser

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
