‘Tears’! Sorry, I never heard of that,
‘Smile’, yes, I do know though,
Mirror-if you ever dare look at,
You are bound to find
...
My heart, stand still;
For mist is thick on ground,
On dew, on crinkled straw
Which once lived as grass.
...
You had never been there
And it’s all that I had cared.
It is up to you
To see me through
...
Silence reigns; an empty hall-
Vacant seats & curtains fall.
Audience left & left the time;
Orchestra dumb & stopped the rhyme.
...
I recall the sight,
It was a dreary night
And lying ahead
Was a murky vale.
...
And once more I turned into the twilight zone.
And I found out joys that I had never known.
And for a change in life, I changed it all
From a tired trudge into a pleasant stroll
...
Are u still d way u were,
When I had to……………..
Leave you behind…..! ?

You told me to stop here,
So I did.
You told me to chase the crown,
And so I did.

I saw it in your face...red & pale,
Darkness strewn with spots of blood,
Thick & dark, condensed as they should be.

Priyendra Kishore Dutta Biography
A natural poet, Priyendra Kishore Dutta started writing poetry from the age of five. He writes both in Bengali & English. Bengali being his vernacular he uses different styles in Bengali & English. While he has an astonishing mastery over rhythm in his Bengali poems, he shows his greatness in his choice of words in both the languages. His poems are full of meaningful symbolisms, sublime choice of words, mellifluous rhyme & rhythms. But most importantly, his poems appeal to your feelings & leave you totally stunned by the closing lines & so much so that the lines keep lingering in your mind even in your dreams. He was born in Siliguri (1986) , a then humble town at the foothills of the gracious Himalayas. He grew up in an environment of nature, freedom, imaginative creativity & love of his parents & elder sister. He has an excellent academic record with the distinctions of being among the state toppers & being awarded national level scholarships. After his Electrical Engineering degree in undergrad he worked for three years for one of the most pioneering electrical engineering companies in the world. Right now he is pursuing his MBA studies in Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) which is considered among the top three B-schools in India. He is also execellent in outdoor sports & recently has re-juvinated his love affair with his old flames: sketching & painting. We hope to see him with his exhibitions soon. ‘Tears’! Sorry, I never heard of that,
‘Smile’, yes, I do know though,
Mirror-if you ever dare look at,
You are bound to find

A frozen lake at the lap of eyes
And a silent fall of the downy snow…..
And stop my friend, rest a while,
For even if I do ever care
To talk about those teary smiles,
That, as it seems, you want to share……..
Face the truth:
You had your wings, now need the clips,
For O, my friend, don’t tell me lies
May smile be writ on your lips
Still it’s the pain that chokes the eyes….
