Night Rest

At my porch I watched with amazement the setting of the sun and saw the creeping twilight like a grey curtain slowly gliding down draping a crystal ball and the flimsy orange haze flickered off to give way to the advent of the early evening glow,

And far beyond the distant space bright silver holes began to twinkle like precious diamonds glittering in the ebony sky, and the moon slowly rises peeping once-in-awhile behind the shimmering clouds drifting by and then lording over the hills and mountains not far,

And in the serenity of the night I heard from somewhere out there a lovesong, soft and pleading like the sighs of a lonely lover, then I shivered as the evening breeze whispered goodnight,

In my sanctuary I turned in pondering over the magnificence of God’s Creation as I slowly closed my eyes.
