To seek a better life in Australia should never be seen as a crime
But he is languishing in a detention centre like a prisoner
serving out his time
Yet he doesn't have a criminal record and he is a good living man

You will not find much signs of life where crops or grass can't grow
Where rain refuse to fall death comes painful and slow
The survivors become climate refugees
In camps where millions live in hopes for visas to Lands overseas
...

She said to the ballad singer sing us songs of refugees
Tell us of those poor sad people from Lands beyond the seas
Who have fled wars and famines for a better life elsewhere
Yet our Governments won't help them doesn't life seem so unfair.
