A Bird In A Cage

I wonder how it feels to be a bird in a cage
Sees the world but never really touches it
Smells the wind but never really embraces it
Has wings but never really flies

Being fed but never really full
Breathing but never really alive
Tweeting but never understood
Tweet, tweet, tweet

I can see gloom hiding in your eyes
When freedom is something beyond impossibility
When liberty is merely absurdity
When time is slowly killing your longevity

And that golden cage does not bestow you any wealth
That clear water does not really satisfy your thirst
Because for the sake of the time you have wasted
All you want is the free air filling your lungs

Oh poor you bird in a cage
A prisoner in your own kingdom
Dreaming of perching from cloud to cloud
Expecting someone to set you free

It's not that I don't want to help
But this golden locked door stops me.
I have to stop looking at the mirror
And start begging for mercy.
