You may call me ungrateful,
You may think I’m impudent,
You may even cast aspersions on me
If you wish.

Healing

I am a pace-maker
To the heart that atrophies.

I am Charon, the boatman
Who rows you across Lethe
Far, far away
From the care-worn earth
To heal you
And groom you
Under my tutelage.

I paint upon your lips
The smiles of blooming blushes
And lift your teardrops gently
To moisten dew-laden buds.

And when its time
I escort you back
From my island of paradise
To the humdrum world once more.

But now you know
How to open that secret little door
Of your fantasy visions
To return time and again
And repose in your own paradise.

I am a catalyst
In the chemical reaction
Called Healing.
