My Beating Heart

As the blood rushes down my face,
All I can think about is you,
And how much I've loved you,
Hurt you,
And abandoned you,
In your time of need.
While in mine
You were always there for me,
When it was I that needed you most.
I was loved,
Cherished,
And always first in your heart.
Why did I only realize now,
As my life is slowly fading,
That you meant everything to me.
I was stupid,
And now it's too late.
I can never see your beautiful smiling face again.
