Hi all.
I have had the pleasure to have shared the past 27 or so years with my true love, Patty. We are approaching our 25th wedding anniversary in July,2009 and I have been reflecting on what exactly I would like to share in words, music or actions with her on this milestone in our life with each other.
We could, each and every one of us, come up with 'the words' by ourselves, but to have the lyrics of 'I cross my Heart' pretty much implies what we truly intend to share with not only the 'one' we have shared (or desire to share) our life with, but with those who stood witness to the original vow. We have a family reunion this July and I will hopefully get it together enough to ask this 'girl' to marry me again. I'm not sure what will happen if she says no, but we'll deal with it..hehe
There is another lyric/poem that also imparts a similar sense of true love and that is by ABBA and more importantly from the movie 'Mama Mia' (this is not a chick flic...it is a great movie, and I don't like musicals..) . 'When all is said and done' really says everything that 'old' friends share with one another after so much time has passed. Whether or not we have spent all of that time together or not makes no difference. The important aspect is that we 'spent' it 'together'. Perhaps not physically, but emotionally.
I am an extremely fortunate soul for having the pleasure of the company of the soul mate that shared our children, and our 'experience' with me. If we look back on our lives and think about what might have been, then think about the Garth Brooks song about remembering what might have been and God not answering each and every prayer that we ask. I believe that all things happen for a reason. Some good, some bad, but all in consideration of the future if you believe that good things happen to good people.
Life isn't easy, but if you share it in good faith it certainly will be worth living.

This song reminds me of my wedding day and what my husband said when he deticated this song.
